Over the years there have been hundreds of books written about wealth and how to acquire it. Often the only person making any money from said literature is the publisher. However, I have just realized that there is a way to make a lot of money, fairly easily, and that is to work for Fox News.
Not only do you get paid a hefty salary, there are also huge bonus payments for sexual harassment of women in your workplace especially when you finally get fired due to too many complaints! Of course, this procedure can take a few years but look at all the fun you are having along the way. Let’s not mention the discomfort and stress you are causing the women you are hitting on in one form or another. Sound familiar?
Welcome to the world of Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly and the man writing their pay cheques every month for years and years, Uncle Rupbert. Old white guys who treat women as commodities. Over the years millions of dollars have been paid to women to keep their mouths shut and go away when they have made a complaint or reported someone for inappropriate behaviour in the workplace. I’m sorry but from where I stand the company or person paying the hush money is just as guilty. So why did the axe finally fall on Mr O’Reilly after so many years? Two things. Money and the courage of a woman, Wendy Walsh, to speak out without the cash settlement for her silence. To Ms Walsh, BRAVO!
If truth be known, the Murdoch family has been aware of the sleazy behaviour of O’Reilly for quite some time but preferred to turn a blind eye because of the money they were raking in from sponsors. Prostitution comes in many forms. With so many advertisers pulling the plug on sponsorships lately, O’Reilly finally got the shove he should’ve got long ago but not without a very, very big payday. Of course, he will have the best lawyers money can buy and he will continue to claim all allegations are false and he is the victim, blah, blah, blah. Sounds a bit like Cosby perhaps – whose good friend Trump, doesn’t believe the stories. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black, or as we know birds of a feather…
If the next generation of Murdochs is behind this change in culture at Fox then I, along with millions of other customers, will be fully supportive of their product. And I’m sure the advertisers will return with wallets full of crisp one hundred dollar bills eager to spend.
To all the old codgers out there who think you can still get away with your grubby traits and unacceptable behaviour, beware! Your days are numbered and it’s about time.
Update Roger Ailes Dies
My mother always told me you should never speak ill of the dead but when it comes to the passing of someone like the former head of Fox News Roger Ailes it is not easy to hold my tongue. I am reading that everyone is shocked and grieved at his passing. Really? Has anyone thought to ask any of the young women he hit on in various ways over many years what their feelings are or is it now a case of we can only say nice things about him as he is no longer with us? Well, the women who he threatened and tried to have sex with and grouped after promising career advancement are still around and in many cases having to deal with what he put them through on a day to day basis with his revolting behaviour. I am sorry but I guess I am in the minority when it comes to the demise of someone with his track record. I say Good Riddance.
